A short orientation for members of the club.
First and foremost, Canyon Spring is located in a residential area with good neighbours and the administration would like to continue the good relationship that was built over multiple decades. This means that uncontrollably loud music or noise is absolutely unacceptable, especially after 9pm. This is a hard rule. Canyon Spring is a tranquil place, not a party house. If you don’t make noise, you are free to enjoy the place as you wish and with that said, here are some ideas what one can do when visiting the club.
Just sit and enjoy the tranquility. You don’t need to do, eat, drink or participate in anything that might be going on in the club. Many guests value the place just for the mere fact that you can enjoy doing nothing. You may turn off or leave your phone with the host for extra calm. We will let you know when someone important is calling or answering instead of you, if asked to do so.
Those who have a passion for cooking can organise private culinary events. The club is equipped with a professional kitchen and barbeque area that can be used by the members when not in use by the staff (there might be an event going or something). For such things you should ideally book in advance via Kim but it is pretty flexible. The staff can provide valuable suggestions and help sourcing ingredients. Besides cooking you can order food with the staff (for an additional charge) or yourself via delivery apps. A special menu of hand-selected items is available for order from the staff who will take care of logistics.
The club provides cocktail making equipment and gong-fu tea sets. Members are free to use those. The tea is included in the membership, and there is a wide variety of it available. When you consume any alcohol from the club’s resources though, please let the staff know in order to include those in your monthly bill.
On the second floor there are two rooms, each equipped with a convertible sofa, table, a TV/projector and video games. You are free to use those for work and chilling alone or with a company.
The club is equipped with HackRF1 and Discovery Dish that allow the members to practice amateur radio, receive images from the weather satellites and do some hydrogen line observations. You are free to use those, but please be careful with broadcasting via HackRF, we do not have a radio license yet and broadcasting on restricted frequencies can create a lot of trouble.
The club is equipped with a Celestron NexStar 8SE computerized telescope which is fairly easy to set up and operate. The staff can always assist you with setup and operation if required. https://www.celestron.com/products/nexstar-8se-computerized-telescope
